Unfortunately I haven’t been able to gather much history on this beautiful palace of justice, it was built from 1871 to 1874 in an eclectic style.
Justice was served here to Belgian criminals for over 100 years and it now lies empty for over 10 years after being replaced my a more modern courthouse. The building is now awaiting renovation.
After hearing about this place on our way to Norway, my girlfriend quickly researched the place and found out where it was located. We couldn’t resist stopping by while passing through Belgium. We thought we weren’t going to get in after trying for ages, and then we hit the jackpot. This building certainly lived up to the grand Belgian architectures’ reputation.
